From highways in Texas to nuclear power plants in Illinois, the concrete, steel and sophisticated engineering that undergird the nation’s infrastructure are being taxed to worrisome degrees by heat, drought and vicious storms.

An interesting article by Matthew L. Wald and John Schwartz in the NY Times about how extreme temperatures this summer are wreaking havoc on our infrastructures...from jets getting stuck in asphalt to subway trains derailing because of the track stretching in the heat!
