"My life has been forever changed by the looming threat of the climate crisis, I joined this lawsuit to fight for future generations' right to live free of existential anxiety and pursue their dreams to the fullest extent."
Emma is a history and politics lover first and foremost who is extremely passionate about the intersectionality's of the climate movement and fighting for a more just future. She loves learning about the world and spending time in nature, as a Swiss girl at heart, her favorite place to be is in a forest surrounded by trees. Outside of climate work, she plays field hockey, reads, and loves all types of creative expression, from writing to fashion to art.
She’s involved in climate activism as the lead of SanDiego350’s Youth v. Oil and the president of her school’s eco club. She dreams of studying and teaching history, but the climate crisis has made pursuing environmentalism a necessity. Though she loves the community she has found through the climate movement, she feels that no young person should have to give up their dreams to fight for what should already be guaranteed.
In the summer of 2023, Emma was diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma and increasing heat exposure is not only worsening her asthma, but also causing nausea, and exhaustion and preventing her from playing field hockey at the level she would like. She also struggles with crippling climate anxiety which has altered her life and ability to function to the same extent as her peers. Emma is passionate about taking climate action and feels that being part of this lawsuit can help manage her climate anxiety and ensure that future generations can follow their dreams without fear for their future.
