MARTHA BOBEN

Legal Fellow

Martha grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and has lived in Maine, Montana and California before moving to Eugene, Oregon. She earned her B.A. in Earth and Oceanographic Science with a minor in Mathematics from Bowdoin College, and her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law with Certificates in Environmental Law and the Public Interest & Social Justice.

After spending her undergraduate years learning about the science and harms of climate change, Martha decided to pursue a law degree to develop a skill set to fight for solutions to climate change and environmental degradation. Between her undergraduate studies and law school, Martha worked as a children’s ski instructor at Big Sky Resort in the winter and an ecology field technician in Yellowstone National Park for the NEON Project in the summer.

During her time at Berkeley Law, in addition to supporting OCT’s work as a law clerk, Martha advocated for environmental justice communities in East Oakland overburdened by pollution with Berkeley’s Environmental Law Clinic and for the protection of endangered species in the Rio Grande at WildEarth Guardians. She’s excited to be working with Our Children's Trust because it’s ambitiously system-focused, supported by the best science, and grounded in youth's stories and experiences with the climate crisis. In her free time, Martha enjoys training for triathlons and running races, cooking, and skiing.
