June 26, 2024: Judge Dismisses Youth-Led Case 

Judge Beales at the Virginia Court of Appeals ruled that while the youth plaintiffs in Layla H. v. Commonwealth of Virginia can sue the state over constitutional rights, they are barred from suing over public trust claims and dismissed the case entirely due to plaintiffs’ harms being too general and erroneously concluding that a ruling would not provide a remedy.
